Econominicaliality

Across the street from Greek campus are the two trendy college coffee places, Beano's and Costa where coffee can reach almost E£10 and certainly more for espresso drinks. (Near the Radioshack with the large "FIXED PRICES" sign.) I opt for the joint across the street with the sawdust on the floor. E£1.50 for an 'ahwa mazboot (sweetened Turkish coffee). Plus I get the distorted shortwave radio broadcast from behind the counter, and the occasional acrobatic mouse performance, as Arastoo claims one fell from the ceiling while enjoying his 'ahwa and sheesha. ...hey, as long as it's not after my coffee.

Speaking of sheesha, enjoying one of these at a cafe or lounge in the States will now run you about $9-$15. Here? Around E£2 ($0.60).

However, what are not cheap are school supplies and textbooks. Ouch.
